It depends on the condition, and it depends on the pill Generally, we think of pills as quick solutions. Pop the pill and forget it, right? But this idea that has been marketed to us is deceptive.
Take, for example, a case of cellulitis, which is an infection of the skin and subcutaneous tissue. It may be treated with a simple antibiotic that disrupts the production of bacterial cell walls. The bacteria die. Case closed. But wait... not so fast.
Why did the infection happen to begin with? Many infections happen with simple organisms that are already on our skin. Why does the infection happen to one person and not another?
Naturally, there is an imbalance in a person that makes the host more susceptible to an otherwise harmless organism. These imbalances grow over time and ultimately become conditions such as diabetes or other forms of immunocompromise.
